C70PCBM is a fullerene derivative widely used as an electron acceptor material in organic photovoltaics and organic electronics. It consists of a C70 fullerene cage functionalized with a phenyl-butyric acid methyl ester side chain, which enhances solubility in common organic solvents and enables solution processing.

C70PCBM offers superior visible light absorption compared to C60PCBM due to the lower symmetry of the C70 cage. This enhanced absorption in the 400-600 nm range can improve power conversion efficiency in organic solar cells, particularly when paired with polymer donors that have limited absorption in this region.
